Man dies in fall from JP Morgan in Hong Kong
A SUPPORT worker at JP Morgan died yesterday in a fall from the roof of the bank’s Hong Kong headquarters.
The man is believed to have worked in middle office functions at the giant investment bank.
The 33-year-old died in the early afternoon local time.
It is understood that security staff had tried to talk the man back into the building, without success.
“A tragic incident occurred in Charter House, Hong Kong yesterday that is currently being investigated by the police,” said a spokesperson for JP Morgan in a statement. “Out of respect for those involved, we cannot comment further yet. Our thoughts and sympathy are with the family at this difficult time.”
The bank has increased the welfare support available to staff, offering counselling to all of its workers in the Hong Kong office, the US bank’s regional headquarters.
The police are not treating the death as suspicious.
Last month IT worker Gabriel Magee fell to his death from JP Morgan’s British headquarters in Canary Wharf.
