The designers behind the north hall of Covent Garden Market and the Met Bar unveiled a new collection of luxury penthouses in Earl’s Court to bring it up to the standard of its illustrious west London neighbours.
The penthouses are part of the Lillie Square development, a residential scheme that’s the centrepiece of the regeneration of Earl’s Court. Estate agents Savills and Knight Frank predict that the makeover of the area will raise house prices in the area significantly in the next five years, as it has traditionally lagged behind values when compared with nearby boroughs such as Kensington, Chelsea and Fulham.
The transformation seems to be gaining some traction among investors as the first release of one, two and three bedroom apartments earlier this year sold out in a matter of weeks. “Since launch we have experienced high levels of demand to buy off-plan,” says project director of developer Capital & Counties Properties (Capco), “which reaffirms our vision that we are creating a desirable place where people want to live and be a part of in years to come.”
This month, a collection of 25 one-level and duplex luxury penthouses are entering the market and Capco, along with co-developers KFI, have high hopes for off-plan sales. Spanning 860 to 2,500sqft, the homes have commanding views of the London skyline as well as of the new landscaped gardens. In fact, half of the entire development is devoted to greenery designed by Andy Sturgeon, who has been dubbed “the David Beckham of gardening” by the Daily Mail. All of the penthouses enjoy outdoor spaces, whether that be a balcony or a dual aspect rooftop terrace.
Paul Davis & Partners, which has designed large chunks of Chelsea, Covent Garden Market and the Saatchi Gallery, is responsible for the architecture, taking inspiration from the area’s traditional Georgian and Victorian roots, using stone and glass detailing on its facades. The building’s insides have been taken care of by United Design Partnership, which has decorated the Met Bar and Nobu inside the Metropolitan Hotel.
Residents will also become automatic members of a private club, which means they have access to a 24-hour concierge service, and a 20,000sqft clubhouse featuring a health spa, 20 metre swimming pool, cinema, private dining space and climate-controlled wine storage facility.
