Low-scoring encounter on the cards at Carrow Road between goal-shy pair
NORWICH vs WEST HAM
Tomorrow 5.30pm
Selling goals in a match involving a team who took part in a seven goal thriller as recently as last weekend might, on the surface, seem ill-advised.
Yet, the fact each of those seven found their way into Norwich’s net at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City puts a different perspective on their home encounter with West Ham in the late kick-off tomorrow.
A bewildered and under-pressure Chris Hughton has asked his players for a reaction. They, in turn, have said they’re behind him, despite slipping into the bottom three.
But you’d expect no less from a team who should have spent the long drive home thinking of ways to atone for their worst ever top flight failure. The reality is the Canaries have now lost three of their last four and their three main strikers, who cost a combined £13.5m, have mustered just six shots on target all season.
The good news is that West Ham are not much better in the striking department, failing to hit the net in six of their 10 games.
Only four teams have scored fewer than the eight league goals Sam Allardyce’s men have managed this season. All of them occupy places below them in the Premier League table.
The Hammers did manage five in two matches against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, but goals have proved elusive elsewhere.
Half of the last six meetings between these opponents have ended in a stalemate, with West Ham nicking the others by the odd goal.
Coral have another draw priced at 9/4 which looks the most likely outcome.
Both managers would surely settle for a share of the spoils, but the best bet is selling goals at 2.4 with Sporting Index.
Backing no goalscorer at a best-priced 10/1 with Coral has to be worth a wager too considering the tragic form of the attackers who will be on show.
