London retailers unhappy over Olympics confusion
RETAILERS have been left in the dark over transport plans in London during next summer’s Olympic Games, with a leading industry body urging Mayor Boris Johnson to shed some light on the authorities’ arrangements.
“Retailers are being encouraged to put plans in place for next summer but that’s difficult to do without a full picture of what the situation is going to be,” said Stephen Robertson of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) this morning.
Restrictions on deliveries, typically imposed by local authorities, need to be lifted during the Games, the BRC said.
The industry body has called for detailed plans to be made available by London authorities by October, rather than in December, as is currently scheduled.
