Liverpool use interest-free loan for £20m Anfield revenue boost
LIVERPOOL are poised to begin a £114m revamp of Anfield that is set to increase capacity and, the club believes, generate an additional £20m a year in revenue.
Work is scheduled to start on Monday on adding around 8,500 seats to the Reds’ home, taking capacity to 54,000. The improvements are due to be completed in time for the 2016-17 season.
The £114m cost of the much-delayed project is being paid for with an interest-free loan from Liverpool’s American owners the Fenway Sports Group, who also own baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
