RBS OFFERS MORE INDICES
RBS has recently launched two new covered call warrants on the German Dax stock index and the South African FTSE/JSE top 40. The Dax index is a good way to trade the global economic recovery due to the number of manufacturing companies that are included in the Dax. Likewise, the FTSE has joined forces with the Johannesburg Stock Exchange to give investors exposure to the major companies in the industrial and capital sectors of the South African economy. Mining companies make up more than 50 per cent of this index, however companies in the telecoms, oil and gas and banking sectors are also included in the index; for example, Anglo Platinum, Standard Bank Group, Sasol and beverage company SABMiller. The total market capitalization for the index is a whopping R3.8bn. (£340m)
PLUS TAKES TO THE ROAD
Plus Markets, the stock exchange that specialises in small and medium sized companies, is hosting a series of road shows for private investors across the country in the next couple of months. The roadshows will give potential investors the chance to find out a bit more about the companies listed on Plus Markets, to meet senior management in the companies and to learn about the investment opportunities that are available. The bandwagon hits London on 12 May when it will be at Tower 42.
