Law firm Ashurst begins search for new managing partner after James Collis announces he will be returning to the finance practice in May
Law firm Ashurst has today revealed that it has started the selection process for its next managing partner, as its current managing partner will step down when his term ends.
James Collis, who is coming to the end of his four-year term, has announced that he will be returning to the firm's finance practice once his stint ends this May.
"I'm proud of what we have achieved over the last four years and am confident that the firm has made enormous progress in that period," said Collis. "I feel privileged to have worked with a talented board and executive committee who have been committed to the evolution of the firm. I am indebted to them and indeed to the firm as a whole.
"I feel that now is a good time to return to the finance practice and let someone else direct the firm in this next stage of its development."
Ben Tidswell, chairman of Ashurst, added: "James has made an extraordinary contribution to the firm, its people and our clients during his tenure as managing partner. He has played a critical role in the success of our business and his leadership has been characterised by strong values and inclusiveness."
The firm's board is currently going through the process to select a new managing partner and will announce Collis' successor in due course.
Collis trained with Ashurst and became a partner at the firm in 2005. He was appointed managing partner in May 2012.
