JON MOULTON TO LEAVE ALCHEMY
JON Moulton, the private equity guru, yesterday resigned as head of Alchemy Partners after a spectacular bust-up with his partners.
Moulton resigned from the firm he founded 12 years ago following a row over strategy with his deputy Dominic Slade, who is set to take over the top job at the mid-market buyout house.
He announced the resignation, which comes one year ahead of his planned departure on his 60th birthday, in a letter to investors that called for Alchemy to be wound down.
“With profound regret, Alchemy is not what it once was,” he wrote. “The state the firm is now in leads to the view that the best solution for investors and the partnership is an early, orderly plan termination.”
In a statement, Slade said: “The strength of the business is testament to Jon’s imagination and enthusiasm and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”
