Jazz festival returns to the docklands
SPEAKING of the Docklands, the three-day Canary Wharf Jazz Festival kicks off today. Bringing top acts, including Sons Of Kemet (today), Eska (tomorrow) and Yazz Ahmed and Neil Cowley Trio (Sunday) to Canada Square Park. The bill also includes salsa and Afro-beat, bringing a bit of life to all those shiny towers full of money.
▀Back in west London, craft beer is officially cooler than champagne. At least that’s what tech startups and mobile companies would have you believe this week as they flocked in their droves to the Great British Beer Festival, promotional stash in-tow. Mobile service providers EE rocked up for a corporate do of their own at the festival’s VIP balcony yesterday, bringing with them some pretty branded metal tankards to drink their ale from (also known as steins) to enjoy their bevvies and show off in front of the other business parties. EE told The Capitalist that it’s been attending the event long before everyone decided craft beer was cool, sending their communications team to Kensington’s Olympia every year to party with the company’s analysts and some rising stars in digital media.
