Japanese exports fall sharply
Japanese exports tumbled at their sharpest pace in the year to September since the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake.
Exports fell 10.3 per cent in the year to September, down for four months in a row, official data showed this morning. Shipments of cars, ships and electronics led the decline.
In separate data, manufacturers’ sentiment in October hit the lowest level since early 2010, reinforcing concerns that Japan might dip back into recession.
The data piles more pressure on the Bank of Japan to take measures to stimulate the economy.
