Interserve is signed up to do the BBC’s cleaning in £150m contract
THE BBC has hired a new office manager, in the form of FTSE 250-listed outsourcing group Interserve.
The firm has signed a five-year, £150m deal to run the broadcaster’s 150 facilities across the country, including Broadcasting House, MediaCityUK in Salford and Pacific Quay in Glasgow.
Interserve will take in 1,100 staff from existing providers as part of the deal, which will cover everything from cleaning to air conditioning and space planning.
The company will replace Johnson Controls, Balfour Beatty and Carillion starting in April 2014.
BBC facilities management director Alan Bainbridge praised Interserve’s bid for “the vision and better value offered”.
Interserve boss Adrian Ringrose said the contract builds on the firm’s existing £40m construction deal with the BBC.
“We already have a strong understanding of the BBC’s requirements and are confident that providing a flexible and transparent approach will help the corporation achieve its workplace goals,” he said.
