If you want to make a packet, put TechCrunch Disrupt 2015 in your diaries
What are you doing in December, techies? That month sees the return to London for the second year running of TechCrunch Disrupt. It will take place at the Copper Box Arena this year, in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from 5-8 December.
The conference kicks off with the TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon, from 5-6 December, followed by two days of on-stage interviews and panels with some of the biggest names in technology.
In addition, TechCrunch Disrupt will also welcome Startup Battlefield and Startup Alley to London. Startup Battlefield competitors pitch to teams of judges, who include some of the world’s foremost investors, innovators and influencers in the tech community. TechCrunch identifies emerging companies to demo and compete for a prize of £30,000 and the coveted Disrupt Cup.
The 508 companies who have participated in the Battlefield have raised $4.4bn (£2.98bn) in funding , cementing London’s role as a hub of worldwide fintech.
Mike Butcher, editor at large of TechCrunch, said: “Last year European startups raised more money that they did during the dot com boom. Much of that money and startup activity is coming out of London, as European entrepreneurs are often using it as a bridge to [Silicon] Valley.”
