A CROWD 10,000 strong stood in silence on Whitehall yesterday as the nation’s leaders joined veterans and civilians alike in remembering the members of the armed forces who have died in the nation’s service.
In Afghanistan, serving troops in Camp Bastion in Helmand were joined by his royal highness the Duke of York and defence secretary Philip Hammond, who laid a wreath for the British soldiers who have died in the region since 2001.
