Homewares and fashion retailer The White Company rockets ahead with an almost doubling of profits
Furniture, clothing and homewares retailer The White Company yesterday reported an almost doubling of profits for the full year ended 28 March.
Operating profits rose to £12.8m from £6.5m in the same period the previous year – an increase of 97 per cent.
Total sales were up 13.8 per cent to £163.6m, from £143.8m previously.
The company said that net margins have continued to improve, through improved buying and reduced discounting.
The White Company opened two new stores opened in the year, Milton Keynes and Norwich.
The retailer has 50 stores in the UK and a further 11 shops in the Middle East, in the Gulf states, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
The White Company said: “In the run-up to the important Christmas period, trading performance across all channels has accelerated with customers responding very well to our new seasonal ranges.”
Chief executive Will Kernan added: “The exceptional achievements of not just the last year, but the last four years are a testament to the whole team and a unique brand that this year celebrates its 21st anniversary”.
The company said investment had been made in infrastructure for future growth including relocation of the warehouse – tripling the capacity versus the previous facility.
