Has the City got its sea legs? The London Boat Show certainly does
FOR THOSE City folk with a spare million or five burning a hole in their pocket, the London Boat Show has floated into town, mooring up at the ExCel centre. From disco-ready top decks to casinos and underwater lights – extravagant whims aren’t going unanswered. Business & Energy minister Michael Fallon hotfooted it down there to eye up some cruisers on Monday, but while the minister wasn’t on a shopping trip, some punters certainly were. Princess Yachts told The Capitalist it was enjoying good sales of its larger craft (its 88 motor yacht starts at an eye-watering £4.7m). And it could even be a sign of good things to come in the UK economy, with one British dealer saying: “When the power boat market picks up, it’s usually a sign of more instant decisions, more confidence.”
