Grim year for EU car sales
CAR sales in the EU crumbled to their lowest level in nearly two decades during 2013, as the currency union’s economic stagnation hit the automotive industry hard.
Only 11.85m new cars were registered last year, a 1.7 per cent drop from 2012, the sixth year of contraction. Figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association were particularly hard on Italy, which saw a 7.1 per cent decline in 12 months.
