Grant Thornton go dining with dinos
IT’S not very often the business glitterati spends a night surrounded by dinosaurs and fossils (well, not of the prehistoric kind anyway) but those who ventured to the Grant Thornton Quoted Company awards last night were sat next to the very finest the Natural History Museum has to offer.
The BBC’s Naga Munchetty compered the event, wearing a blinder of a silver gown but all the laughter was saved for comedian Greg Davies, of Inbetweeners fame. The Capitalist bumped into him just before his moment on the stage: “I haven’t been here since I was 16,” he told me. “It’s definitely a novelty performing under a dinosaur – shame I don’t know anything about business.”
Those who did know a bit were the winners including Nick Robertson of Asos (which won the company of the decade award), Richard Law of GB Group who bagged chief executive officer of the year, and Harry Nimmo, from Standard Life who won fund manager of the decade.
Well, that’s the bare bones of the story. Arf, arf.
