German jobs data disappoints
The number of Germans out of work fell less than expected in July, data showed, adding to signs of a growth slowdown, but labour officials said levels of joblessness in Europe’s top economy should continue to decline. Seasonally adjusted figures from the federal labour office yesterday showed unemployment fell by 11,000 to 2.957m, undershooting expectations for a drop of 13,000 but continuing on a downward path unbroken since hitting a peak in February 2010.
