Games Workshop posts best ever results
Games Workshop posted record-breaking results for the third consecutive year this morning after seeing revenue and profits soar.
The figures
Revenue in the 12 months to 2 June this year was £256.5m, up from £221.3m last year.
Profit before tax was £81.32m, rising from £74.2m the previous year.
The games retailer reported that earnings per share were 202.9p, an increase from 184.3p in 2018.
Dividends per share declared in the year increased by 29p, from 126p to 155p.
Why it’s interesting
The company, which owns the Warhammer brand, has 517 stores across 23 countries, with physical stores contributing to 34 per cent of the year’s sales. Online sales accounted for 19 per cent of sales.
Games Workshop said it invested £10.5m in its Nottingham-based studio in the year, with a further £3.3m spent on tooling for new plastic miniatures. Completion of the revamp is expected this autumn.
A project to extend and upgrade a US logistics hub in Memphis, Tennessee began in March.
What Games Workshop said
Games Workshop chief executive Kevin Rountree said: “An amazing set of results – the best year in Games Workshop’s history, so far.
“You can once again see from these results that our business and the Warhammer Hobby are in good shape.
“The board and I continue to believe that the prospects for the business are good.”
