FORM AND FITNESS STILL A BIG WORRY FOR COLLINGWOOD
ENGLAND all-rounder Paul Collingwood admits he’s still struggling for form and fitness ahead of tomorrow’s World Cup warm-up match against Canada.
The 33-year-old, who celebrated the birth of his third daughter last week, has failed to pass 50 in his last 11 one-day internationals and is currently struggling with a back problem.
“I had injections into the back last week. I’m looking forward to getting back to 100 per cent – at the minute, I’m probably a bit off that,” he said.
His enforced break, he believes, will have done him no harm as he bids to regain his touch with the bat.
“I can’t beat around the bush – the last few months have been disappointing on my personal form,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to this tournament. It is a different set of conditions altogether. I hope I?can draw on my experience.”
