Football betting: Title-chasing Tottenham to earn their Spurs at Liverpool
Attention turns back to the Premier League this weekend after the international break, and the finale of this intriguing season.
With Leicester not in action until Sunday’s clash with Southampton, Tottenham have the chance to move within two points of the leaders with a trip to Anfield on Saturday evening.
This is a very different Spurs side to the one that lost four on the bounce to Liverpool over the previous two seasons.
They’re now armed with Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and, perhaps most importantly, inspirational manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The men from north London have emerged as a potential championship-winning force, and nothing but three points will do to keep the pressure on the Foxes.
After goals for Kane and Eric Dier and a man-of-the-match performance from Alli in England’s win over Germany last weekend, they will be full of confidence and ready to continue their charge.
Back in 2014, Liverpool were on a title tilt of their own but those days are well in the past. The Reds currently sit in a lowly ninth.
However, the 3-0 victory over Manchester City in their last home league game gives hope that Jurgen Klopp might be able to recapture that form in seasons to come.
Their last match before the break shows the true nature of Liverpool’s season – hapless defending saw them cede a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Southampton.
Watching those blunders will have had Premier League top scorer Kane licking his lips. Betway make it 37/20 for Spurs to take the three points, and I’m backing them to do so.
Without the distraction of cup or continental football, Tottenham have a clean run as they attempt to win their first league title since 1961.
Liverpool on the other hand might have one eye on their massive Europa League tie on Thursday, when Klopp returns to his old team Borussia Dortmund.
The goals often fly in between these two, with 17 in their last five meetings. Spread bettors can buy total goals at 2.7 with Sporting Index, which I will be doing.
