THAI NEW YEAR AT MANGO TREE
Belgravia’s smart Thai eatery, Mango Tree on Grosvenor Square, is holding a Thai New Year Party on 14 April. The celebration of the Songkran festival will feature a show of traditional dances, while diners can enjoy a special tasting plate of delicacies from across Thailand – including hormok (fish paste steamed in a banana boat and topped with coconut cream, lime leaf and chilli) and khor-gring (a spicy and aromatic chicken stir-fry) served alongside the a la carte menu. Chi chi West End restaurant and bar 108 Marylebone Lane, which opened year, has a new executive chef, Norman Farquharson, who has put together a menu based around ingredients sourced from Marylebone’s profusion of high quality food businesses. These include the Ginger Pig butcher, specialist sausages shop Biggles Sausages, cheese-lovers’ paradise La Fromagerie, and local luxury chocolatier Rococo Chocolates. Gastropub entrepreneurs Tom and Ed Martin are launching a series of monthly wine dinners at their pubs The White Swan on Fetter Lane, The Prince Arthur in London Fields and Victoria Park’s Empress of India. Expect five course dinners with individual wine pairings and tasting notes prepared by Paulo Brammer, sommelier to the brothers’ business, ETM Group. The next events are on 24 March at The Prince Arthur, 26 March at The White Swan and 14 April at The Empress of India.
