Fidelity looks into the future with Google Glass market app
FIDELITY Investments, the US money manager, yesterday became the first finance company to unveil software for Google’s wearable computer spectacles.
The company, through its Fidelity Labs research and development unit, has launched an app for the glasses to show quotes of four major US stock markets for users at close time.
Google’s pioneering Glass project features a wearable headset that flashes up hand-free images and information. It is currently in the early stages of development but the company is working with companies like Fidelity to develop applications to run on Glass in the future.
Hadley Stern, vice president of Fidelity Labs, said: “Fidelity Labs has helped investors benefit from transformative technologies like mobile computing and social media and now, we hope to do the same with Google Glass.”
The software, called Fidelity Market Monitor, is currently available for download at the Fidelity Labs website.
It offers prices for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, the Nasdaq and the Russell 2000. Google Glass launched this year with a $1,500 price tag.
