Far from being unlucky, home insurance claims actually go down on Friday 13th
Friday the 13th may have a reputation for being unlucky – but it turns out that doesn't ring true when it comes to household mishaps.
Home insurance provider Policy Expert has discovered that claims on home insurance actually go down on the traditional day for bad luck, with claims on some of the most recent Friday 13ths coming in at less than half the average claim per day for that month.
Back in March, our last Friday the 13th before the one at the end of this week, claims on came in at an average of £993, compared with £2,231 per day for the rest of the month.
“These figures suggest the UK remains superstitious as ever and that historically we take extra care around that unlucky date,” said Adam Powell, head of operations at Policy Expert.
“If you’ll be watching your step this Friday make sure your home insurance policy is up to date and you’ve checked the small print to avoid any nasty surprises should you encounter a black cat or break a mirror.”
