FA Cup: Bantams twist knife on Poyet
BRADFORD CITY 2 SUNDERLAND 0
BRADFORD manager Phil Parkinson says he fears nobody in tonight’s FA Cup quarter-final draw after the Bantams eliminated more top-flight opposition in the form of Sunderland yesterday.
Former Black Cats striker Jon Stead continued his record of scoring in every round as his strike and a John O’Shea own goal moved the League One side to within one win of a trip to Wembley.
“If we get our approach right we’ve got a chance against anybody, and we proved that today,” said Parkinson, who led Bradford to the 2013 Capital One Cup final. “We were disappointed it wasn’t on TV. Hopefully they’ll come and give us a live game next time.”
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet aimed a bizarre rant at the media after a dreadful week in which his side also became the first to lose at home to Queens Park Rangers all season.
“The problem is you, not me,” said Poyet, who was barracked by travelling fans. “I’m not going to get involved any more. If we close Sunderland, if we put a China Wall around the city, it would be fantastic.”
