Euro obsession is Chelsea downfall, says Ferguson
MANCHESTER?UNITED manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Chelsea bought Fernando Torres because they are “obsessed” with winning the Champions League.
“It seems to be an obsession to win the European Cup and that’s why they bought Torres,” said Ferguson.
“Roman Abramovich has nailed his colours to the mast. To have an obsession of winning the European Cup is stretching yourself a wee bit. It’s a difficult competition to win.”
Ferguson will be able to welcome back Wayne Rooney for tonight’s European encounter having had his striker suspended for last weekend’s 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham.
Ferguson added:?“Wayne will definitely be fresher after missing the game [against Fulham] on Saturday. That has given him six days’ good preparation and that could make all the difference in the end.”
