EU referendum: How would a Brexit impact business? MPs launch inquiry to “get underneath the slogans and soundbites”
Barely a day in 2015 has gone by without a new business figure giving their view on the EU referendum vote.
But MPs want more. The Business, Innovation and Skills Committee has today called for evidence from businesses ahead of the 23 June vote as it seeks to "get underneath the slogans and soundbites".
The committee said it would probe issues such as access to the single market, the cost of EU membership, free movement and the “administrative burden of complying with regulation”.

Announcing the launch of the inquiry, committee chair Iain Wright spoke of the impact the vote will have on future jobs, growth, investment and prosperity.
He said: "Given the claims and counter-claims about the business opportunities and costs of leaving, or remaining in, the European Union, the Business Committee inquiry aims to get underneath the slogans and soundbites to help the public make a better informed decision on 23 June."

The committee is seeking the views of businesses, the public, unions, consumer bodies and others by 15 April.
Wright added: "We want to know what membership of the European Union looks like to and impacts upon businesses across Britain, not just multinational companies but to the digital start-up in Tech City, the oil and gas fabricator in Hartlepool, the building firm in Cardiff, the accountant in Hull and the logistics company in Guildford."
