England must go for the kill
ENGLAND batsman Ravi Bopara wants his team-mates to adopt an aggressive approach against Twenty20 world No1s Sri Lanka this afternoon, or risk flying home early from Bangladesh.
Having lost their opening match of the World Twenty20 to New Zealand at the weekend, a second straight defeat in Chittagong will leave England having to hope results elsewhere in Group One, along with a drastic swing in net run-rate, fall in their favour.
Bopara said: “It is a must-win game for us. I don’t think we know about the mathematical side of it, we have to win.
“I have been lying in my bed at times and thought: ‘why don’t I just hit the first ball for six?’ It’s probably the best ball to hit out of the park.
“You have to hit sixes in T20 cricket to push the run-rates up.”
