Tories plan economic crime body
The Tories are planning to set up a new agency tasked with stamping out white collar crime. A new Economic Crime Agency will take over the task of investigating and prosecuting economic crime, from the Serious Fraud Office, the Financial Services Authority, the Fraud Prosecution Service and the Revenue and Customs Division, and the Office of Fair Trading.
Outrage at Pope memo
The foreign office was yesterday forced to make an embarrassing apology for a “foolish” document that suggested the Pope’s visit to Britain could be celebrated by the launch of a “Benedict” range of condoms. The memo also suggested the Pope could be asked to open an abortion clinic and to bless a gay marriage.
