Dunkin’ Donuts plots a move to Britain with 50 London branches
THE FORMER chairman of Ipswich Town FC is backing the return of Dunkin’ Donuts to British shores.
The Court Group, chaired by football stalwart David Sheepshanks, has signed a franchise deal to open 25 coffee and doughnut restaurants in east London over the next five years, Dunkin’ said in a statement yesterday.
The US-listed firm is aiming to open 150 outlets in the country by 2018, and has also penned a franchise deal with US operator DDMG to open 25 branches in north London.
“We feel there is significant opportunity for Dunkin’ Donuts in the UK, and we have had tremendous response from potential franchisees interested in developing the brand across the region,” said Giorgio Minardi, president of Dunkin’ Brands International.
The company – which already operates in Bulgaria, Germany, Russia and Spain as well as in the United States – plans to modify its menus for British tastes.
