Disney sees profits heat up after Frozen success
DISNEY boosted revenues and profits in the three months to the end of December, following box office success from films like Frozen and Thor: The Dark World.
The media giant trumped expectations with a net income of $1.89bn (£1.16bn) for its first fiscal quarter, up from $1.38bn in the same period in 2012, a 33 per cent climb. Revenues climbed nine per cent to $12.31bn.
Disney credited strong demand for its fourth quarter film releases, with operating income from studio entertainment climbing 75 per cent to $409m.
Disney Infinity, a new video game, boosted operating income from interactive sources from $9m to $55m.
