Details of probe into Anglo Irish bank revealed by Eire officials
IRISH prosecutors will take some time to determine any charges arising from a long-running fraud investigation into nationalised lender Anglo Irish Bank, Ireland’s director of corporate enforcement said yesterday.
The Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE) is probing events leading up to the nationalisation of Ireland’s third-biggest bank in early 2009.
However with one file and almost 4,000 pages of documents any decision on charges is some time away.
The ODCE said its reports relate to the provision of a loan by Anglo to one of its directors, the non-disclosure of certain directors’ loans, the provision to a number of persons in 2008 of financial assistance for the purchase of its shares and the communication of possible false or misleading information in public statements.
