Currys owner says turnaround on track
CURRYS and PC World owner DSG International has said its turnaround plan is on target.
The company pledged to deliver better profits and that its programme of revamping stores was
on schedule, in a trading update.
It will now accelerate the roll-out of its Megastore and 2-in-1 – combined Currys and PC World – stores.
It said 70 Megastore locations had been identified in the UK, with 33 to be open by Christmas 2010, while 60 2-in-1 stores will be opened this year.
Chief executive John Browett said: “The Renewal & Transformation plan is making significant changes to the Group and we have started to see the benefits of this work.
“The new store formats are popular with customers, particularly the Megastores and the combined 2-in-1 stores.
“The next twelve months will be another busy period as we roll out the improved proposition and introduce more services to more of our customers.”
In January the firm reported better than expected results after an upturn in electric goods like TVs and laptops.
