Crowd won’t be on my side for Federer match, admits Murray
BRITAIN’S Andy Murray expects home advantage to count for little when he faces world No2 Roger Federer with a place in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals at stake tonight in London.
Murray can rely on feverishly partisan support at Wimbledon but the end-of-season event a few miles east at the O2 attracts a different crowd likely to be split evenly between him and Federer.
The Scot is expected to need to beat Federer to reach the last four, though the exact permutations will only be known after today’s other group clash between Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic.
“The crowd will probably be more split when I play against Roger but that’s no surprise,” Murray wrote in his BBC online column. “I’ve played him all over the world, at Wimbledon and three times at the O2, and pretty much everywhere he goes he gets very good support.”
