Cowmunication firm gets £3m
A BRITISH syndicate has invested £3m in Silent Herdsman, a monitoring system that detects animals’ health and fertility.
Scottish Equity Partners (SEP), Albion Ventures and Scottish Investment Bank, the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise, are investing in growth plans for the business, which helps farmers around the world.
Launched in the UK in 2010, Silent Herdsman is a system where livestock are monitored via a collar that sends information to a farmer’s mobile phone or computer.
Stuart Paterson of SEP said: “There are over 1bn beef and dairy cows worldwide… This represents a market opportunity of over $1bn per annum to Silent Herdsman.”
