Corporates to bond at spooky fetish parties
Halloween is nearly upon us, and if you still haven’t found a house party to crash, the City has pulled out all the stops (along with some whips and chains) for some swanky celebrations.
Top of any Square Mile grandee’s list must surely be the Barbican Halloween Ball taking place in the Guildhall’s crypts on Saturday.
The lavish affair, for which tickets start at £500, will see bosses and big-wigs of London’s financial heart swap the usual weekday business attire for “gothic, ghastly, and ghoulish” costumes.
According to folks at the Barbican Centre, 75 tickets have been made available for 19-27 year olds at the discounted rate of £150. Given the hundreds of big-wigs expected to attend, unless you’re really keen to get on the boss’ good side this is probably not the most raucous party you could hit this weekend.
If you’re after something with a bit more scandal (and let’s face it, who isn’t?), a very special event comes in the form of a group of latex-clad City slickers who gather at Elephant and Castle’s “Torture Gardens”.
City matchmaker Social Concierge advertised the event to their mailing list of City executives and directors from Barclays and Goldman Sachs to Burberry, advertising a night of fetish-wear and debauchery. Social Concierge says that it’s relatively clean “as long as you avoid dark corners”. The Capitalist wonders which bankers have already booked their tickets.
If whips and chains aren’t your thing, the dating-meets-networking company is hosting a vampish party for members at the St Martin’s Lane hotel. Billed as London’s “sexiest” party, guests are invited to work the room while sipping on “spiked champagne”. Will this loosen the purse strings of would-be investors?
