Clifford Chance partners choose Guy Norman as corporate head
THE LAWYER who advised Kraft on its bid for Cadbury and Barclays on its acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ North American investment bank was yesterday named head of Clifford Chance’s global corporate practice, after an uncontested election.
Guy Norman will take over from outgoing corporate head Matthew Layton on 1 May, taking the reins from the man who was named as the firm’s new managing partner at the end of last year.
Norman has been a partner in Clifford Chance’s corporate practice since 1998, and recently returned from leading its corporate practice in the Middle East. He also spent a year on secondment as an investment banker at Citi and two years at the UK Takeover Panel.
“I am delighted to be elected to lead what is, without doubt, an outstanding practice and a highly talented team,” Norman said.
