CITY VIEWS: WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HOUSE PRICES IN 2010 ?
ROBERT NUNN | RESOURCES GLOBAL
“I think house prices will continue to go down. Demand is simply not there at the moment and inflation has gone up. If the Tories get in they’ll cut expenditure and the public sector. This leaves a huge portion of the population unable to buy and as a result prices will stagnate. But Chelsea will go up.”
JAMES WISEMAN | ACE
“I’m not planning on moving any time soon so it doesn’t really affect me. I think the media makes a meal of this situation. Confidence is a factor and I have friends who say it is taking a lot longer to complete a sale as not enough people are buying.”
JON WHITE | CCL
“Historical trends show that Central London prices will continue to rise – we live in a bubble in the capital compared to the wider UK market. Professional service industries are coming out of recession and so the trend will persist. Prices could go down if the Olympic redevelopment causes oversupply.”
