It is a bit of a double standard for a politician who is campaigning for the NHS not to use it, but I think it’s fine for a person to use private healthcare if it’s available to them.

Yes. It’s always a difficult decision but I think a politician like Ken Livingstone who is championing the NHS and expecting the public to use it should use it himself.

The NHS has such long waiting lists so I sympathise. It could be hypocritical, but on a personal basis I’d do the same. If you can afford private healthcare, it’s acceptable to pay to jump the queue.
