CITY VIEWS: IS IT RIGHT FOR PEOPLE TO WORK PAST 65?
ALEX GULLIFORD | JM FINN
“As the average age increases, people are going to have to work to an older age as the burden on pensions gets greater and greater. I am very concerned with the situation particularly at the moment given we are said to be a broken nation”
ROBIN HASTINGS | DRUCES SOLICITORS
“I can’t see a problem with people working for as long as they wish, there shouldn’t be an issue for those wishing to carry on. However we shouldn’t raise the retirement age as it wouldn’t be right to demand that those approaching 65 work longer.”
SIMON HUTTON | LEGAL & GENERAL
“It’s not fair to ask people to work over the age of 65. People are living longer but it’s not guaranteed for everyone. The right to work however should be protected and I am concerned by the mounting costs of an ageing population.”
