CITY VIEWS | IF SWITCHING TO A NEW BANK WAS EASIER, WOULD YOU CONSIDER IT?

I would if it were easier. I think I’ve switched banks twice in about 30 years and it was difficult. I switched after I found a better deal – I think it was the mortgage incentive that persuaded me. I would consider switching out of the big five high street chains, if they had the right interest rates and services. For now, it just seems too stressful.

I would possibly, I do think it’s a hassle. I haven’t switched, but I have instead opened up another bank account with a different bank. Any reform will be effective, but it’s never going to be a simple process and the banks don’t have any intention of making it simple – even if they have to make it easy I don’t think they will.

I think it’s quite easy now, actually. It wouldn’t make any difference to my decision whether to switch or not. I have switched before, and I’ve found it very quick. I think people don’t know how easy it actually is. Possibly I’m more aware than most people, but if they simply asked or requested it, they’d find it’s actually very easy anyway.
