CITY VIEWS: HAVE YOU SEEN SIGNS OF A HIRING BOOM IN THE CITY, AND IF SO ARE WE BACK AT PRE-CRISIS LEVELS YET?
ALEXANDER LUSTOV | MGAP
“I think that the jobs market is exactly the same as it was. Companies seem to still be quite reluctant to hire, the same as last year. I’m not looking for a job though, so I can’t say for sure whether it’s the same everywhere. I work in the legal sector; maybe other places are having a jobs boom.”
DANNY LYNCH | BRIDGE HALL
“I think the current environment is still quite cautious. Graduates seem to have the pick of new jobs at the moment, leaving little room for any other movement. I haven’t heard of any big recruiting news recently, but as I’m not looking for a job I’m not in the loop.”
MARK J COSGROVE | WILLIS
“It does seem like there are more jobs available. Momentum seems to have picked up since April, building on the improvements of the last six or seven months. I know a few people who have recently got new jobs. It feels like a sturdy upturn that will continue. Insurance is affected less by the job market – there are always risks, even in recessions.”
