CITY VIEWS: DO YOU THINK THE UK SHOULD ASSIST IN BAILING OUT GREECE?
ANGUS ROSE | ALEXANDER DAVID
“We stayed out of the euro for that very reason. We saw that a few of the weaker members could get us into problems. If we were part of a team it could be worth it. But if it’s just the rich countries, it’s a bit of an imposition.”
SIMON DENISON-SMITH | METROPOLIS
“I don’t think we can afford to. The luxury we have in this debate is that we are not part of the euro. Greece collapsing financially could impact us, but we can’t afford that sort of charity at the moment.”
HARRY HIBBERT | BARRIE &?HIBBERT
“No. Britain isn’t in the euro; we haven’t got any interest in getting involved. If it looked like the euro, not just Greece, was going to collapse then Britain should get involved but we wouldn’t be able to save it alone.”
VIRGINIA KUZMICKI | VISION
“We should help in the context of the EU, but bailing out is different from helping. Iceland has retracted on what it has to pay, so we need to be careful. If we do help them out, it’s got to be an investment.”
