Advent International
The private equity firm has hired Kevin Beeston, the outgoing chairman of Serco Group, as an operating partner.
Beeston will be tasked with helping Advent identify investment opportunities in the business services sector, and will also continue in his role as chairman of Advent’s portfolio company Domestic & General.
He has worked for Serco for 25 years, including as chief executive and finance director.
SWIP
The Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, has appointed Mike McNaught-Davis to the newly created role of head of international equities.
McNaught-Davis joined SWIP’s global developed markets team in March 2008 as an investment director, responsible for managing its Europe, Australia and Far East funds and researching the global pharmaceutical sector.
Prior to that, he worked at Martin Currie Asset Management and F&C Asset Management.
Canada Life
The pensions, investment and insurance group has appointed Craig Rippe as head of UK equities and Mike Willans as head of international equities in the investment division.
Rippe joined the group in 2004, having formerly worked at Govett Investment Management. Willans has been at the firm for 11 years and currently manages the Japanese fund, the North American fund and the CF Canlife International Growth Fund.
Rensburg Sheppards
The investment management firm, now fully owned by Investec after the bank snapped up its outstanding 53 per cent stake earlier this year, has hired Rodney Dartnall and Nick Vaill as investment managers.
Dartnall has 46 years of experience in the City and spent the past two decades with Barclays Wealth (previously Gerrard Investment Management).
Vaill has worked at Gerrards since 2003.
LoveFilm
The film rental group has hired online expert Simon Waldman as group product director, responsible for its website, user interface and online services.
Waldman previously spent over a decade building up Guardian Media Group’s digital platforms, including as the first director of digital publishing at Guardian News & Media.
He is also the author of “Creative Disruption: Why you need to shake up your business for the digital age”, to be published in September.
CB Richard Ellis
The property group has poached Phillip Howells from Jones Lang LaSalle as an executive director in its central London team.
Howells previously held the position of director in the West End business at Jones Lang LaSalle.
