HSBC Private Bank
The private bank has appointed Daniel Ellis as a managing director and head of the private bank investment group for the UK and Channel Islands, based in London.
Ellis is currently head of structured products for HSBC Private Bank Suisse, having joined the group in 2001 to help build the ‘over the counter’ derivative and structured product offering.
Prior to that, he was financial controller for Flemings Offshore Bank in Jersey.
Cavendish
The corporate finance specialist has appointed Mark Perry and Joe Stelzer as partners.
Perry will lead the team working with media sector clients. He previously worked at Barings Asset Management, WestLB and Seymour Pierce before founding Scott Perry Consulting, a corporate finance group focusing on the media sector.
Stelzer will specialise in technology, defence and aerospace. He previously founded Silver Cloud Capital, a firm offering strategy and M&A assistance to industrial technology businesses.
Conduit Capital Markets
The derivatives and securities dealer has appointed James Moylan as head of non-investment grade credit trading, Simon May as head of risk management and Nicholas Fentem as head of interest rate derivatives.
Moylan was formerly head of European high yield/leveraged loans and distressed debt at Barclays Capital. May was head of risk management at Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander, while Fentem was head of exotic interest rate structuring at Dresdner Kleinwort.
BNP Paribas
Smit Acharya is to join the bank as a senior medium term note (MTN) trader, effective from July.
He joins the London office from Credit Agricole, where he was a director on the MTNs and private placements desk since 2006. Prior to that, he worked on the Euro MTN and structured notes desk at HSBC, which he originally joined in 2000.
Carbon Rating Agency
The carbon finance ratings and research company has hired Amul Gogna as a global strategic adviser to focus on the carbon markets of the USA. Gogna was previously the London-based managing director of IDEAcarbon’s ratings business and has over 20 years of experience in credit risk and corporate development.
Redux Research
Financial services group Matrix has joined up with Redux to create a hedge fund joint venture, Redux Research, providing emerging market currency and macro strategies research.
The firm will be led by Sudeep Singh, who was formerly a senior emerging markets portfolio manager for Caxton Associates and managing partner and chief investment officer at Lotus Capital Partners.
