Euroclear
The settlement firm said yesterday that Tim Howell, the global head of HSBC Securities Services, will become its new chief executive, replacing Pierre Francotte, who announced his decision to step down last year.
Howell, 49, also previously held the position of group treasurer at HSBC. He is a chartered accountant, having originally qualified with Arthur Andersen. He has been a board member at Euroclear since 2007.
Financial Services Authority
The City regulator has appointed Julian Edwards as consumer senior advisor.
Edwards has more than 30 years experience as a consumer champion working for various organisations including Which? and Consumer International.
His new role has been established by the FSA as part of its drive to deliver better outcomes for consumers through intensive supervision and rigorous risk assessment.
Union Bancaire Privée
The Swiss bank has appointed Emmy Labovitch as head of marketing for asset management and a member of the firm’s executive committee for asset management.
Labovitch was previously global head of marketing at Fortis Investments.
Ambrian Partners
The broker has hired a leading life sciences equities team, to be led by Julian Burn-Callander, a former head of equity sales and founding partner of Code (now Nomura Code) Securities.
He will be joined by Paul Diggle, Mike Ward and Dr Chris Redhead, also all founding partners of Code Securities.
Diggle and Ward will cover large-cap European pharmaceuticals, while Redhead will join Burn-Callander in a team focusing on small and mid-cap corporate client opportunities.
NSAFS
The National Skills Academy for Financial Services has hired Therese Reinheimer-Jones as regional director for London.
Reinheimer-Jones, who will support employers with staff skills development and compliance with financial services regulation, was previously head of the Financial Services Skills Academy at Tower Hamlets College.
DS Smith
Gareth Davis is set to join the board of the packaging group in mid-2010 after he retires as chief executive of Imperial Tobacco.
Davis has led Imperial Tobacco since its incorporation in 1996, and has been senior independent director of Wolseley since 2004.
DS Smith also said Chris Bunker has taken over the role of its senior independent director from Bob Beeston.
List Group
The electronic trading software firm has appointed Mark de Nieffe as senior sales manager in London.
De Nieffe has 20 years of experience as a stockbroker and equity trader.
