Deloitte
Timothy Mahapatra has taken up a new role at the business advisory firm as managing director of the corporate finance practice.
A member of the firm’s executive, Mahapatra has over 15 years of corporate finance experience and was previously leader of Deloitte’s mergers and acquisitions programme.
He succeeds Aidan Birkett, who was appointed as chief restructuring officer to Dubai World in November 2009.
Piper Jaffray
The mid-market investment bank has appointed Corinna Kubin as a principal in the cleantech and renewables investment banking team in Europe.
Kubin has spent the past 13 years at Merrill Lynch and is an experienced M&A specialist. She was most recently director of the multi-industry group at the bank’s London headquarters.
Westhouse Holdings
The corporate finance and broking house yesterday launched its market making desk, headed by Simon Doyle.
Doyle joined from Seymour Pierce and has also previously worked at Altium Capital and Wedd Durlacher Mordaunt.
Westhouse has also hired Jeremy Chantry from Religare Hichens Harrison as its new head of research.
Wedlake Bell
The City law firm has added a new senior solicitor to its pensions team. Justin McGilloway joins from Lovells, where he worked as a senior associate in their pensions team.
As well as general pensions advisory work, McGilloway has specialist expertise in advising on the pensions aspects of M&A work.
He also formerly spent 18 months on secondment to accountancy firm KPMG, working on other aspects of remuneration policy such as structuring bonus plans and employee benefit trusts.
Cardew Group
The communications consultancy has appointed Sandy Soames as a director in its client-facing team.
Soames is an experience sell-side equity analyst and joins from Cazenove Equities, where he has worked for the past 16 years, most recently as a managing director and head of European food, household and personal care.
Prior to that, he covered the international drinks industry and the European leisure sector.
Exotix
The investment banking boutique has hired Anna Sweeting as its new chief financial officer.
Sweeting is a qualified chartered accountant and started her career in the banking and capital markets division at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
She will now be responsible for financial management across the Exotix businesses.
