Merrill Lynch
The bank has appointed Patrick Ramsey as chief executive of Merrill Lynch Bank Suisse, the Swiss wealth management division.
Ramsey, who will report to Merrill’s EMEA head of wealth management David Jervis, joined the group in 2002. He most recently held the role of head of European private banking.
Prior to joining Merrill, he spent a stint as an investment officer att he United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund in New York.
RBC Capital Markets
The corporate and investment banking arm of the Royal Bank of Canada has hired Diego Megia as a managing director in the European rates trading team.
Megia, who will help the firm to build up a European government bond business, joins with over 18 years of experience in vanilla rates and inflation.
He previously worked at BNP Paribas as head of the European rates trading business, as well as stints at Commerzbank in Frankfurt and Barclays Capital in London.
GLG Partners
The hedge fund has reappointed Jason Mitchell to its investment management team, working closely with co-founder Pierre Lagrange.
Mitchell will focus on stock selection in the environment and social governance area. He left GLG in early 2008 to become chief operating officer of water treatment and patent technology group Hydrotech International.
Commerzbank
The bank has hired Nikolaus Giesbert to its investment banking division to head up its fixed income and currency sales offering.
Giesbert joins in September from Morgan Stanley, where he was a managing director in the global capital markets business and head of financial institutional coverage in Europe.
May Gurney
Ishbel Macpherson has joined the infrastructure services group as a non-executive director, effective immediately.
Macpherson, 49, was an investment banker for over 20 years, specialising in UK mid-market corporate finance, latterly as head of UK emerging companies corporate finance at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
She currently holds non-executive directorships at Game Group, Hydrogen Group, Speedy Hire and Dignity.
Bluewater Bio
Dynshaw Italia, the former finance director of Cobra Beer, has joined the wastewater treatment group as its new chief financial officer.
Italia has a wealth of experience with international finance, fundraisings and mergers and acquisitions, and will be tasked with helping Bluewater expand in Asia and other territories.
He worked as chief operating officer and finance director at Cobra between 2001 and 2009, and prior to that worked for online travel agency eBookers as group director of financial operations.
