FSSC
The Financial Services Skills Council has appointed Trevor Matthews, the chief executive of Friends Provident, as its new chairman.
Matthews joins a number of high-profile City bosses on the FSSC board, including Resolution Group chief executive John Tiner, Standard Life managing director John Gill, KPMG vice chairman Brendan Nelson, and Angela Knight, the chief executive of the British Bankers’ Association.
Clydesdale Bank
The bank, owned by the National Australia Bank group, has appointed Stuart Trussler as a director in its corporate and structured finance team in London.
Trussler joins from Barclays, where he has spent 27 years of his career. He was most recently focused on structuring finance packages to support M&A and other corporate activity, and has supported deals including the 2006 IPO of pawnbroker H&T Group and the 2009 refinancing of holiday provider Travelzest.
F&C
The asset management group has hired Sandra Carlisle as a director in the governance and sustainable investment (GSI) team.
Carlisle was formerly a managing director in Citi’s global equities division, where she was responsible for setting up a global thematic and sustainable investment team.
She subsequently joined financial public relations firm Brunswick Group to build a sustainability and climate change practice.
LaSalle
The investment manager has promoted Alan Tripp and Amy Aznar to the position of international director in London.
Trip is currently managing director for the UK and leads the core funds and separate accounts side of the UK business. Aznar is head of special situations for greater Europe and focuses on strategic entity-level investing, large transactions and joint ventures across the UK and Europe.
The pair joins the top leadership of LaSalle and its parent company Jones Lang LaSalle.
The Capita Group
The professional support services group has appointed Dr Nigel Wilson as a new non-executive director.
Wilson is the chief financial officer at Legal & General, where he was appointed in September 2009. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer and then deputy chief executive of United Business Media.
He also currently holds the position of senior non-executive director at Halfords Group.
Ashcourt Rowan
The wealth management subsidiary of Syndicate Asset Management has appointed John Page to its business expansion team.
Page joins after a 17 year career at Lloyds TSB and becomes the firm’s conference and recognition manager.
