Shepherd and Wedderburn
The law firm has elected James Will, the head of its corporate practice, to the position of chairman after over 20 years as a partner at the firm.
Corporate partner Andrew Blain takes over as head of corporate, while Guy Winter has been promoted to partner in the same division. Winter joined the firm in 2008 having previously worked at Linklaters, Shearman & Sterling and Speechly Bircham.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch
The bank has appointed Giles Hutson as a managing director in its EMEA debt capital markets team, based in London.
Hutson will join in July after an 11-year career at Morgan Stanley, where he was latterly co-head of EMEA debt capital markets and head of syndicate.
BoA Merrill Lynch’s co-head of global capital markets Alastair Borthwick said the appointment would strengthen the bank’s commitment to its aim of creating a sector-leading capital markets business around the globe.
Standard Bank
The emerging markets-focused bank has hired three senior executives to its private equity franchise.
Bilge Ogut becomes deputy global head of the private equity business and chief executive of its Turkey operations. She joins from Warburg Pincus, where she has been a partner since 2004.
Marcelo di Lorenzo will head the bank’s private equity business in Brazil and joins from Merrill Lynch Private Equity, while Navaid Burney will be head of private equity in Africa and was previously a founding partner of Emerging Capital Partners.
LaSalle
The real estate investment manager, a member of the Jones Lang LaSalle group, has promoted Andy Watson, an international director in its Paris office, to the role of head of core funds and separate accounts for continental Europe.
Watson has been a key member of the firm’s senior management team in continental Europe since he joined in 2004. He is a member of the European management board.
Knight Capital Group
Didier Bankole has joined the financial services firm as vice president of sales for the electronic trading group in Europe.
Bankole previously worked at NYSE Euronext, where he was in charge of global account management. Prior to that, he was at Euronext Paris.
Dawsons
Sarah Rushton has joined the law firm as a partner in the employment practice.
She was previously at Forsters, where she set up the firm’s employment practice, and was also senior in-house employment counsel at Icap.
